Nuno Garoupa is Professor of Law and the H. Ross and Helen Workman Research Scholarat the University of Illinois College of Law. He is also Research Professor of Law atIMDEA (Madrid) and Research Affiliate, CEPR (London). He received his Ph.D. in Economicsfrom the University of York (UK), also holds an LLM from the University of London. He isa former Associate Professor (Tenured), Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Spain; Professor(Catedrático), Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal; and Research Professor of Law atthe University of Manchester School of Law, UK. He has a long established researchinterest in the economics of law and legal institutions. The results of this researchhave been published in the Journal of Legal Studies, Journal of Law and Economics,Journal of Law, Economics and Organization, American Law and Economics Review, Journal ofEmpirical Legal Studies, Oxford Journal of Legal Studies, American Journal of ComparativeLaw, Journal of Law and Society, Berkeley Journal of International Law, Columbia Journalof Transnational Law, Alabama Law Review, European Business Organization Law Review, Maastricht Journal of European and Comparative Law, European Economic Review, EconomicJournal among other journals. Nuno has served as Vice-President of EALE (2004-2007) andas a Member of the Board of ISNIE (2006-2009). He currently serves as co-editor of theReview of Law and Economics and as a Member of the Board of ALACDE (Latin America andCaribbean Law and Economics Association).
